About Dr Manmeet Singh

Dr Manmeet Singh is Director of Urology, Robotics & Kidney Transplant at Medanta Hospital, Amar Shaheed Path, Lucknow. With over two decades of clinical experience — including more than 17 years of dedicated subspecialty practice in urology — he focuses on robotic urology surgery, kidney transplant, prostate treatment, laser stone surgery, male infertility and the full range of minimally invasive urological procedures.

After completing his MBBS (2003) and MS General Surgery (2007), Dr Singh was selected for Senior Residency in Urology & Renal Transplant at SGPGIMS, Lucknow (2008–2009), followed by the M.Ch programme in Urology and Renal Transplantation at the same institute (2009–2012) — widely regarded as India's most rigorous super-speciality training in urology. His extended tenure at SGPGI placed him at a national tertiary referral centre, where he gained substantial exposure to complex reconstructive urology, renal transplantation, paediatric urology and advanced endourology across an exceptionally high-volume surgical environment.

Dr Singh has been actively involved in pioneering cadaveric (deceased-donor) kidney transplant programmes in North India and was instrumental in establishing organized live-related kidney donor programmes in the private healthcare sector in Lucknow. This work is documented in a peer-reviewed publication in Clinical Transplantation (Wiley, May 2016) — "Establishing a deceased donor program in north Indian region: lessons learnt" — indexed on PubMed (PMID: 27087634). His expertise spans every stage of transplant care: donor work-up, surgical implantation, and long-term recipient follow-up.

His academic contributions include 22 PubMed-indexed peer-reviewed publications spanning kidney transplantation, endourology, robotic and laparoscopic urology, paediatric urology, female urology and andrology — including original research in Clinical Transplantation (Wiley, 2016) on establishing a deceased-donor kidney transplant programme in North India, multiple papers in Investigative & Clinical Urology, World Journal of Urology, Urology Annals, the Canadian Urological Association Journal, the Indian Journal of Urology, BMJ Case Reports and others — plus presentations at the Urological Society of India's national conferences. He is a member of the Urological Society of India (Membership No. S-422). At Medanta Lucknow, Dr Singh leads a multidisciplinary urology department covering minimally invasive stone surgery, robotic oncological surgery, kidney transplantation and the full spectrum of male and female urological medicine.

Robotic Surgery & Kidney Transplant Expertise

Robotic & Minimally Invasive Surgery

Robotic-assisted urology represents a significant advance in surgical precision — particularly for oncological resections and complex reconstructive procedures. At Medanta Lucknow, Dr Singh performs robotic radical prostatectomy, nephrectomy, partial nephrectomy and laparoscopic reconstructive surgeries. The robotic platform offers enhanced visualisation, tremor-free instrumentation and greater operative control than conventional laparoscopy, translating into lower blood loss, reduced complications and faster patient recovery.

For benign conditions, laparoscopic and endoscopic approaches are preferred wherever feasible. Dr Singh's training at SGPGI — which handles one of the highest volumes of complex endourological cases in North India — underpins a preference for the least invasive technique that achieves an optimal surgical outcome.

Kidney Transplantation

Kidney transplantation requires surgical precision, immunological understanding and meticulous long-term management. Dr Singh's transplant training at SGPGIMS exposed him to both living-donor and deceased-donor transplant surgery in a high-complexity national referral setting. At Medanta Lucknow, this expertise is embedded within a multidisciplinary transplant programme that covers recipient preparation, surgical transplantation, and post-operative immunosuppression management — giving patients access to comprehensive end-stage kidney disease care under one roof.

Professional Membership

Dr Manmeet Singh is a member of the Urological Society of India (USI), the apex body representing urologists in India. Membership reflects active engagement with the national urology community, adherence to professional standards, and participation in continuing urological education.

A Patient-First, Evidence-First Approach

Urological conditions — whether a kidney stone causing acute pain or an early-stage cancer detected incidentally — can generate significant anxiety. Dr Singh's approach begins with the belief that a well-informed patient makes better decisions and recovers with greater confidence. Every consultation is a conversation, not a verdict.

Surgery is not always the answer. Many urological conditions respond to careful medical management, surveillance or minimally invasive intervention. Where surgery is necessary, the preference is always for the least invasive technique that offers the best outcome — not the most dramatic one.

Evidence-Based Decisions Every recommendation is grounded in current urological guidelines and clinical evidence — not habit or preference.
Surgery as a Last Resort Non-operative options are explored first. When surgery is required, minimal invasion is the standard.
Transparent Counseling Patients receive a clear explanation of their condition, all treatment options, realistic outcomes and the risks of each path.
No Unnecessary Procedures Tests, investigations and interventions are recommended only when clinically justified.
